Lung cancer is a disease associated with the increasing growth of malignant cells that may lead to metastasis, which is responsible for the infiltration and invasion of adjacent tissues of the lungs. Moreover, several methods on how to prevent the worsening of the condition with people having lung cancer are now available.

However, treatments are ultimately depends on the types of lung cancer, whether it is non-small or small cell lung cancer. Also included are the size, site, the cancer’s severity and the well-being of a certain patient having lung cancer.

The most common therapies to treat lung cancer include radiation therapy, chemotherapy and surgical procedures. Nevertheless, even with treatment, it is not guaranteed that a person with lung cancer will fully recover. In the event that the cancer reoccurs into the lungs, it will be called as local recurrence.

One method for treating lung cancer is through surgery. It also appears that surgery is the only resort for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and also of the disease is restricted to only one lung and has not spread beyond its restrictions.

Initial chemotherapy is likewise given in metastatic NSCLC.

One more type of therapy to alleviate the symptoms of lung cancer is radiation therapy. It uses X-rays to kill the cancer-causing cells. Furthermore, radiation may be brought to cancer cells by means of external radiation and even radioactive materials place inside needles, catheters or seeds near to the cancer cells.

There are many therapies that may be used to improve the condition of a certain patient with lung cancer. However, another alternative is through prevention, as it is the most effective means in battling out lung cancer. People should be responsible in every step that will take, especially those people who are engaged in smoking.
